When I got my hot tip emailed to me, it was exciting as it was the 1st time 3 games were being predicted to win. I placed $120 down including the purchase of 3 points. The initial spread of +12 was good but it made me fairly anxious as it was a big spread and indicated that their was not a lot of confidence in Seattle even losing by 12 points. The 3 extra points gave me a +15 spread. About an hour before the game, I checked the odds again and it seemed that even more confidence can left the Seattle camp with the sportsbook now offering a +14 spread. I thought what the heck and placed a $60 bet including 3 extra points taking it to +17. If my 1st bet came good, then I’d win this 2nd one too and if the Supersonics lost by a point or 2 more than 15, I’d still win this 2nd smaller bet. Well as mentioned, they only lost by 3 points so both my bets came good netting me $105.90 - Cool.
This is how the game went… In the 1st quarter, I thought it was going to be an easy game with Seattle blitzing Detroit 41 points to 28. Detroit’s Coach looked like he was going to blow something and the fans were tense too. However, in the 2nd quarter, Seattle’s 13 point lead was reduced to 1 singular point with halftime finishing at 54 points t0 53 with Seattle officially on notice. I wasn’t worried though - like hell I wasn’t!! It ain’t over till the full-time buzzer and their were 2 whole quarters still to go with a determined and angry looking Detroit having been embarrassed in the 1st.
The 3rd quarter started with both teams looking for victory and it showed with the quarter being tied at 24 points each, and Seattle amazingly clinging on to their 1 point lead for dear life. I was jumping up and down. This was great with a huge spread and leading by 1 point, but I really wanted Seattle to win the game as well as just personally winning the bet. Go Seattle!! And then came quarter 4. How many games have been either won or lost in the 4th? Yep, apart from any that go to overtime, every single one of them. By this stage, Detroit were desperate in front of their home crowd and that really showed in their defense holding back Seattle, in a near-repeat of the 2nd quarter, ending Seattle’s dream conceding only 19 points compared to Detroit’s 23 points, winning the quarter by 4 points, taking the lead for the 1st time in the game, and triumphantly winning the game 100 points to 97, making the 3 point win one of the closest and most exciting game I’ve seen for a while.
So Seattle lose the game by a measly 3 points but fortunately for my good friend John Morrison’s hot tips with over 97% probability of success, I easily won both the bets I had placed on it.
